Description

The 186729C-01 FP-CTR-502 8 Channel Counter Input Module from National Instruments provides functionality without disrupting FieldPoint bank activity. With safety mechanisms to disable outputs in case of a short circuit, this module ensures proper protection for connected devices.

186729C-01 FP-CTR-502 8 Channel Counter Input Module (Not for New Design) National Instruments FP-CTR-502 Counter Module, also known as Part Number: 777518-502, is designed to be mounted on a FieldPoint backplane to provide functionality to the module without disrupting the activity of the FieldPoint bank. It is important to note that when connecting the FP-CTR-502 output to a remotely controlled sourcing-input device, the voltage applied to the VOUT terminal by the external device should not exceed the voltage level of the power supply connected to the FP-CTR-502. In the event of a short circuit on an output channel, the module will disable the output. Additionally, if an output that is in the ON state is disabled by the safety mechanism, the status indicator for that channel will remain lit but the output transistor will be turned off. The FP-CTR-502 features input channels and one output channel to generate a consistent pulse train with adjustable duty cycle and period. With safety isolation resistance between the I/O channels and the inter-module communication bus, the NI FP-CTR-502 Counter Module ensures proper protection. It is important to ensure that any devices or circuits connected to the module are adequately insulated to prevent contact with hazardous potential. The module is equipped with two green status LEDs, POWER and READY, which light up when the module is installed on a terminal base or backplane and power is applied, indicating its presence to the system module.
